about us
Hi! we're the kids behind Happy Meowments. We are 5 and 8 years old, and this whole project started because of our grandpa — that's Jichan in japanese.
Jichan's history
Old School Artist
Jichan has always painted cats as a hobby. But not just regular cats. He paints them in the styles of super-fancy classic paintings, with all the same colors, brush strokes, and art vibes of the original artist... except the people have cat heads. It’s really funny and also really cool.
Our Jichan, is basically a super-awesome painter who learned how to do real, official art things at Tokyo University. That’s a super fancy school in Japan where they teach you how to paint like the old masters, which sounds kind of serious, but Jichan makes it fun.
He learning how to make stuff cool and everything about art. And now he uses all that classical painting stuff to create the art we have here — except he makes it look way more fun than those old museum paintings that you’re not supposed to touch (even though we really want to touch them).
It started with sharing
Every week, Jichan teaches me art lessons. We sit together, and he shows me how to mix colors, how to hold a brush, and how to make tiny details that make the whole picture come alive. We love it a lot.
One day, I put one of his cat paintings on one of my bags for school. It made me so happy that I showed all my friends and classmates. They liked it too, and that made me feel extra proud. That’s when I thought, “Maybe more people would smile if they saw Jichan’s cat art!”
So now we want to share his artwork with everyone. That’s why we starting this website… with some help from my dad, because websites are kinda complicated.
Thanks for visiting! We hope Jichan’s art makes you smile as much as it makes us smile.
